Nadia Elena Comaneci
The athlete earned international recognition and admiration for presenting the world with one of the most memorable events in sports history by scoring the world's first perfect ten on asymmetric bars in the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. In addition, Comaneci scored six more 10s perfect, making her, at fourteen years age the youngest Olympic medallist in every category. The Romanian gymnast was able at attracting international attention to help Romania to establish itself in the global spotlight. Through achieving a feat that was unattainable the sport's icon helped bring gymnastics into the spotlight of international attention. This changed the perception of female gymnasts. Her impact was so significant at her participation in the Olympics that even the uneven bar event has two moves named after her - toe-on and release. Both have been classified as high-level level. In addition to the Olympics she also became an athlete at World Championships and European Championships. Her achievements have made her one of the top gymnasts ever. In the US she was able to advertise sports products and model in her new country after she left.
